All Souls‘ Day Event

Every year before All Souls' Day, Vilnius Ethnic Culture Centre invites Vilnius schoolchildren and active citizens to gather together and to take care of forgotten graves at Vilnius Karveliškės Cemetery. ETNO Thursdays. Paper Cutting

Autumn marks the comeback of ETNO Thursdays! On September 28th we invite you to discover the art of traditional paper cutting. Our guest, professional craftswoman Odeta Tumėnaitė-Bražėnienė, will teach you to make paper curtains.

The art of paper cutting originally comes from the Eastern world and is much appreciated in Lithuania since 19th century. The paper decorations were traditionally used as a part of the interior design and can still be applied in a nowadays world.

September Equinox & Baltic Unity Day 2017

 

Let us celebrate the September Equinox and Baltic Unity Day on September 22nd at 20.00!


This year’s event will commemorate the Krikštai tradition as a unique part of Lithuanian cultural heritage. (Krikštai are wooden burial markers originally created in Western Lithuania.)

The particular part of the Equinox event will traditionally be the fire show where Neris Embankment near King Mindaugas’ bridge will light up with traditional Baltic symbols and various fire sculptures.

The sculptures of Krikštai will be open for visitors from September 15th, at Neris Embarkment near King Mindaugas’ bridge.
