ETHNO Children. Wax Candle Making

zvakes ETNO12 09 18As All Saints' Day approaches, on October 29, at 5.30 p. m., we invite children to the ETHNO workshop, during which they will get acquainted with the ancient methods of candle production and make a natural beeswax candle with their own hands.

Candle making has long been a well-known craft, often practiced by women and children on long winter evenings. In ancient times, the candle was not only an irreplaceable source of light but also an object performing a ritual function. The candle was made at the birth of a child, which was later lit during baptism. The same candle was lit during the wedding, as well as funeral when the deceased was accompanied to the afterlife by candlelight.

During the workshop, children will get acquainted with the craft of making candles and traditions. Adults can attend the workshop together or just bring the child to the event.

The number of participants is limited, so registration is required.

Age of participants: 6+
