DVEJI TREJI VARTELIAI | Spring Equinox
Leave the cold season behind and welcome the heart-warming arrival of spring. On March 20 at 7 p.m., join us for the spring equinox celebration "Dveji treji varteliai" (Two-Three Gates).
This moment marks the beginning of astronomical spring—a time to embrace the returning light as the days begin to outlast the nights. The gates that will open on this day will symbolically mark the beginning of a new time and invite us to welcome the awakening of life in unity.
The event will feature a program created by ethnomusicologist, composer, and cultural researcher Tamsaulė for the spring equinox, in which the themes of ritual, renewal, and the cycles of nature are revealed through voice, electronic soundscapes, and folklore influences. During the concert, the audience will be invited not only to listen, but also to experience music as a shared ritual space – to join in singing, immerse themselves in a meditative atmosphere, and remember the rhythm that connects people with nature and cultural memory.
Until the autumn equinox, the Šventaragio Valley will be adorned with the LandArt installation TIESOS VARTAI (The Gates of Truth) by artist Vygantas Vėjas. According to the creator, the sculpture symbolizes connection and transition: from darkness to light, from this world to the beyond, from greatness to insignificance, from insignificance to greatness. This becomes a task of qualitative change, which involves contemplating Truth as the necessary key to unlocking the Gates.
